Women Can Do It All

“Women can have it all, they don’t need to choose to be one thing or another they can be it all”

I think this statement is misleading.

Why ? Well, I believe a woman that wants to succeed in all areas of her life needs to choose.

Let’s say you’re trying to build a strong foundation for the wife and future mother you want to be as well as simultaneously having a career and starting multiple businesses. The truth is, it’s not possible to be successful at even one of these things if you don’t focus all you have on them; one at a time.

Time.

That’s the key word. Certain periods of time are crucial to build the foundation for what is to come, and the time you have today to build that foundation, may not come again in a very long time. The Bible said it, there is a time for everything, a time to sow and a time to reap.

Let’s continue on the example of building a home, which is one of the main roles a Godly woman has. Building a home is not simply cooking and cleaning it’s much more that that. It’s breaking old thought patterns and behaviours, learning respect, etc. Keeping a “home” is essentially keeping the family and doing so in a way your husband will find honourable. All these things require a certain amount of death to self that can really take up a lot of your energy. If you don’t focus, you’ll miss out on specific things that could save your “home” in the future. Society tells us women shouldn’t have to choose. “They can do it all” and I believe a woman can learn how to successfully run a home, a job and multiple businesses. However, it’s certainly not as “instant” and “natural” as society makes it seem.

Truth is, as for anything you are building you have to focus on it completely in order to make sure it is solid. Once that is solid, you can move on to the next thing (all the while maintaining the first) and so forth. What I’m trying to say is, it’s a process.

There’s nothing shameful about only being able to give your energy to one thing in one season. Secure it, focus on it and make it stable. Make it so rooted even cutting down the tree wouldn’t affect it.

If you’ve got other things going on, trust God! Trust He is a God of “the process” and I’m truly convinced He is appreciative of the understanding that you have of the “focus” needed for that special thing in your life. He will give you the time, strength and wisdom you need to “focus”.

Finally, women, we can do many things, we can do “all things” but we must do those things well.

Indeed, for those “things” to last, we do need to choose. Don’t let society make you feel like making the choice wasn’t the right move; It was. Not having a plan that you entrusted to God while making the choice was the wrong move.

So, to Us, Women who can do it all ; One step at a time
